Pastor Thomas N. Bessix

Pastor Thomas N. Bessix

Pastor Bessix is a pastor, teacher, community organizer, administrator and theological leader to this current generation. He is the founder and lead pastor of the Fountain of Hope Church.  His passion in ministry includes establishing comprehensive Christian Education programs as well as creating in-reach/outreach ministries that engage and strengthen both congregation and community. He also strongly believes that the church should be intentional about raising a prophetic voice concerning the social issues of the day.

He is a native of Maringouin, Louisiana and a graduate of Southern University (Baton Rouge) receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology & Rehabilitation Counseling. He furthered his studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Louisiana State University (LSU – Baton Rouge).

Pastor Bessix spent 10 years as an educator in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and served as Executive Director of PICO Louisiana (a state-wide community organizing group). His secular experience coupled with 22 years of pastoral experience makes him a well-rounded, socially conscious proclaimer of Jesus Christ. His community service engagement and accomplishments have been recognized by his fellow clergy and local civic leaders. Pastor Bessix is the 2016 recipient of the ‘Pastor of the Year’ award from the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance’s Bishop J. Neal Haynes award and the 2017 ‘Pastor of the Year’ award from Greater Southwest Black Chamber of Commerce.

Pastor Bessix serves as a faculty member for both the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education as well as the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. He has also served as a lecturer for the Garner/Nabritt lecture series at American Baptist College. Pastor Bessix is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.

Pastor Bessix is married to the lovely Dr. Kimberly Davis Bessix D.D.S., and they have a daughter, Madison. He enjoys the Discovery Channel, fishing and motorcycling, but nothing compares to his love of preaching and teaching the Word of God. He is anointed, filled with the Holy Spirit and is persuaded that he will let “nothing separate him from the love of God.”
